Today we went to the Butterfly Pavilion with some friends. It was great!! We got to see lots of little creatures, nice and nasty. Beetles, Bees, Spiders and Scorpions. Oh, and Roaches. I am seriously going to have panic-stricken nightmares tonight from the freaking roaches. I could handle everything else but those nasty things. Anyway. It was great fun and I can't wait to go back! I got to hold a Tarantula named "Rosie." She was so cool. I've never held a tarantula before, at least not that I can remember. Nora was a bit afraid of it, but she worked herself up to touching it eventually.
She did well, until she decided to crawl and lay down on the soaking wet path in the butterfly room. She was then restricted to the stroller. She's taken to walking on her knees at very inconvenient times lately. Channeling the terrible two's, I'm sure it's only the beginning. She was attempting to do it through the grocery store parking lot the other day, in brand new tights, I might add.
At the very end there was a room where they had mechanical insects that were huge, it was like we were insect size and they were human sized. Nora and Sophia were very interested in the giant scorpion. (Size of a car)
Notice in the slide show that they feed the roaches dog food. At least it looks like dog food. Gross, gross, gross.

The butterflies are pretty, but the rest of the bugs, no way! Yuck!!!
You guys do the coolest stuff! Are you kidding me with those butterfly pictures? You are amazing. You could probably sell that to them to use on a postcard/brochure! So beautiful!
