So Big!

Every day Nora is growing by leaps and bounds, is saying more and more, and is noticeably closer to that dreaded terrible two behavior. Take today for example...

We tried putting her down for a morning nap, because by 9:30 she was exhausted and saying "Night-night time?" First attempt at putting her down resulted in her typical routine of laying down for 15 minutes (not sleeping) and then standing up in her crib because she had pooped her pants. I changed her and laid her back down, hoping she would fall asleep, and instead she decided to throw herself a little party. Which she sometimes does, and then eventually falls asleep. I was doing laundry and I hear Murphey say, "Oh my God, she's climbing out of the crib." I got to the monitor just in time to see no Nora in the picture. We went straight upstairs and I was leading us into her room, when I turned to Murphey and said "Be sure not to laugh when we get in there." He nodded in agreement and I opened her bedroom door to find her standing in the middle of her room. She looked up at us with a huge grin on her face and yelled, "Nora out crib!!!!" I had to immediately turn away so she didn't see me burst into laughter.

So we're not sure what is next as far as her bed goes. We're so not ready to have her be out of the crib, but we have to make sure it's safe for her. Coincidentally I took these pictures last week. I found her all stretched out sleeping, and she doesn't have much more room in the crib. Maybe a twin bed isn't such a bad idea after all...

Skip to lunch. I'm at the grocery store getting stuff for dinner, and I get a call from Murphey. It goes something like this:

Murphey: Nora is soooooo YOUR daughter. You're not going to believe what she just did.

me: (smiling with pride) What happened?

Murphey: She just dumped her milk all over her head and then yelled at me "Milk EVERYWHERE!!!!"

me: (laughing) That's pretty funny.

Murphey: I'm glad you think so. I'm hanging up now.

Something about cleaning up milk from her head, her highchair, the floor, inside the floor vents, (EVERYWHERE!) made the whole thing less amusing for him. Sorry, Murphey. :)

Not much gets past her these days. One of her toys (the purple little people minivan) stopped working so I changed the batteries. It has one of those battery covers that you need a screwdriver for. I left the screwdriver within reach, and a few days later, I found her doing this. Turning the screwdriver and everything.

WOW, When did she become such a little kid and not a baby anymore? I am in awe of how fast she is growing up!

I love the milk story. Just remind Murphey of the time he forgot to put the coffee pot in and when the coffee brewed it went all over the counter and floor! I think that was Murphey, not you. So maybe Nora is more HIS daughter! If I'm wrong, then she's all yours.

hilarious that she climbed out & then with a declaration was so proud of her accomplishment!

luckily neither of my boys tried to climb out. trip fell out once, when he was throwing a tantrum... think he was leaning over screaming & the weight of his head carried him over the edge & out of the crib! he now climbs back in the crib to see his (not so) baby brother. I'm suprised Quinn has never tried to climb out after seeing his big bro' do it all the time!
