Clearing the cobwebs

Let's see here, I think I remember how to post on this thing... Hmmm... I know it's been awhile since my last post and it's been even longer since I put pictures up. Sorry guys. It's been NONSTOP since we got back from VA. I'm setting aside time tomorrow night to post some pics from our time out there.

To tide you over, I offer a couple of cute Nora stories. The girl is talking nonstop now. Can we say "Language Explosion?" In the past week she's added "thank you," "welcome," and "excuse me." to her vocab. Hmmmm... In all honesty, I don't consider myself to be the most well-mannered person around, so I am especially surprised that she's managed to pick these up and use them appropriately. We went camping this past weekend and I was in the tent holding her, about to put her down to sleep, and I passed gas. (Yes, I am human also, and that's what we do.) She looked up at me and said "excuse me." I lost it. The girl totally called me out!!! I then finished singing to her and put her down in the pack and play, and laid down beside her, waiting for her to fall asleep. After about 15 minutes of lying there, tossing here and there, she rolled over, lifted her head and said "excuse me" twice. I didn't think anything of it until she stood up and said it again. Then I realized that she was trying to tell me she had pooped, and sure enough, she had a full diaper!! I couldn't believe it.

Story #2:
The three of us were up in her room this evening, once again, putting her to bed. Murphey and I were talking amongst ourselves as she went to her shelves to pick out a book to read. She picked one and then sat down and flipped through the pages, naming the different things she saw on the page. We weren't really paying much attention to her, and then we hear her say, repeatedly "Fu-K, Fu-K", really accentuating the ck sound at the end. Wouldn't you know, she saw a fox on the page and was labeling it. Stacy, I know you said you read the blog, can you please tell me when we can expect the 'x' sound to develop?? I just hope she doesn't see any foxes while we're out in public. That and I can't wait for her to say the 'ers' part of crackers. I'm ready for her to stop asking for "crack" every time I reach into my purse while we're out in public!!!

I think my favorite sentence Nora says is, "I love you, Grandma." Mia, you were verbal early, too. On your second birthday after dinner we walked around the neighborhood to your little friends' houses and you said, "Today is my birthday. Please come to my house after you eat your dinner for cake and ice cream."

hilarious! quinn says something that sounds like a bad "f" word, too.... but he is referring to his dinner fork! :0)

it's so fun when the vocabulary explodes. i am amazed on a daily basis at the things quinn says. his is largely b/c of his older brother. my mom calls the boys "pete and repeat".
