45 Weeks

Jan 18-24
So this was quite the eventful week. Nora came down sick Thursday the 18th. She had a fever of 102.5 late in the afternoon. We gave her tylenol through the night and in the morning her temperature was normal again. I took her to the doctor Friday morning though, because we were supposed to travel by airplane down to Tucson on Saturday and I wanted to make sure her ears were ok. She was fine at the Dr., her fever had gone away and everything looked clear. We were given the ok to take her on a plane. Then later that afternoon her fever came back so I gave her some more Tylenol. She ended up throwing up in her crib that night, so we decided to cancel our trip. Thankfully she ended up seeming fine Saturday and Sunday.

Then came Monday. She was a bit fussy, and didn't eat all of her breakfast and it took her forever to eat her lunch. Right after lunch she started whimpering (which she usually doesn't do) and I couldn't figure out what was wrong. I had just gotten her dressed and was wondering if she did not like the feel of the sweater I had put on her, so I took it off. She continued whimpering, and she was holding her mouth funny, so I thought maybe she had bit her tongue. I picked her up and was comforting her and that's when I noticed that she had gone extremely pale. I called Murphey to tell him what was going on and it was then that she looked like she was losing consciousness. So I freaked out and called 911. They got here in about 10 minutes and she was still pale and acting very subdued, so we decided to take her to the ER via ambulance. She had another episode in the ambulance where she appeared to begin to lose consciousness and her oxygen saturation dropped to 87 percent, but she responded well to me stimulating her to stay awake. About 10 minutes after we arrived at the ER her color returned and she was acting her typical self, which was good to see. They did an EKG and some bloodwork and everything was fine (phew!) but the doctor wanted us to schedule an EEG and Neuro consult with Children's Hospital to rule out epilepsy. They think what I saw may have been a seizure. They also said we may never know what it was, and hopefully it won't ever happen again. Both my brother and I were diagnosed with epilepsy as children and we both outgrew it, which from what I've heard, is quite common.

It was quite a scare, but she's been fine ever since. In other Nora news, I've been trying to post a video of her "reading" one of her books, but it's kinda long so I'm having trouble. One of her latest tricks is "kissing" the pictures of animals and babies in her books, she holds the picture up to her face and moves her wide open mouth back and forth across the page. She also looks like she's close to pushing to stand independently. She pushes herself up from the floor into a squat.

At the ER, Charlotte was wearing a pullover fleece with a zipper, and Nora was playing with the zipper. Charlotte said "zipper" as Nora would touch it, and then Nora started trying to imitate the word. Here's a video of her trying it again later.

Sweetness...Intelligence....Beauty! The girl has it all! She definitely takes after both her parents. Or, as they say here in Wisconsin, "She sure didn't lick it off the grass!"
