Autumn Already?

Wow, I went on vacation and came back to autumn. For those of you who don't know, our schedule for the past month and a half has been CRAZY!!! Nora had a tonsillectomy/adenoidectomy on August 14. Exactly two weeks later Nora and I boarded a plane for Washington DC. We spent the next 10 days visiting friends and family in northern and southern VA. We spent our last few days there in Richmond for the McCloy family reunion, which was a blast! We flew home on a Tuesday and I flew out again that Friday for a week in Aruba with my friend Darcie. I did take my camera with me on all of these excursions, but I was so focused on being in the moment that I did not take many pictures. I will post what I did take soon. I actually haven't even loaded them up on my computer yet. Sigh.

I was looking back over some pictures I did take in August. Here are a couple of my favorites.

Here she is enjoying some of Grandmama's homemade chocolate pudding, post surgery. I did take some pictures during our 24hr hospital stay post surg with my blackberry, and I posted those on facebook, I will add them here later. I do have to say that the docs told us Nora would lose weight in the weeks following surgery. She may have lost some weight the first week postop, but going into surgery her weight was 30lbs. She steadily gained weight, NOT LOST it, in the weeks following sugery, and 4.5 weeks postop she weighed 34 lbs. AMAZING. The doctor's explanation for why she had not gained any weight the past year was because it took so much effort for her to breathe at night (through the obstructive tonsils). Essentially, she was burning calories at night trying to keep herself breathing. So imagine our amazement that she had hovered around 29-30 lbs. the past YEAR, and then packs on 4 lbs in as many weeks. Insane!

And here she is burning some calories the "right way."
