A closer look

If there's anything I hope for this child, it is that she has her father's eyesight and that she doesn't need glasses at all, or at least until she is well into adulthood. Here she is modeling Mr. Potato Head's glasses (and a milk moustache!).

I am still behind on stuff from before Christmas! I am slowly getting the hang of how to do things with this new computer and new software. Now it's just a matter of finding time!

My mom came out for a wonderful week near Christmas. While she was here, my friend Julie and her daughter Anna came over. Nora and Anna play well together. Anna is 7 months younger than Nora, but they are so much fun to watch. They love playing "Princess" and dressing up. Julie is great motivation to me also. She is a runner and we are both running in a race in May, she is doing the marathon and I am doing a half-marathon. More on that later...
Anna decided not to wait until the cookies were baked... Neither of us noticed her biting the head off this gingerbread man.
Then we noticed her sitting there with a funny look on her face, and looking like she had something in her mouth. Julie let her spit it out in her hand. My brother Michael sent this way-cool Dora tent and tunnel.

I love that she's sitting here in panties!!!
While my mom was here we went to Denver to see "The Nutcracker." I had never seen it, and Nora loves ballet and dancing, so she was very excited about it. Grandmama and Grandpapa came with us also. Unfortunately, the show was at 2:00, so that meant no nap for Nora. She was very tired and grumpy, and ended up falling asleep in the second half of the show. When she woke up, after it was all over, she was upset that she didn't see the end of it. And this was week one of potty training. Here's a picture of my purse. Guess what's in that target bag??? Yep, her own little Elmo potty seat. Lifesaver. Made public potties much less intimidating those first two weeks. After the show. Has to have access to her belly button. At home a few days later, my little elf.
And our visit to the nearby mall (slowly dying a miserable death mall, seriously, every other store is out of business, and it was like that BEFORE the economy took a nosedive) to see Santa.

She was so excited to see Santa. I was less than impressed with Santa this year. I think he was a little burned out. But I though it was great how excited she was. The reindeer she's holding was a gift from a patient of mine. (The little chinese girl I am working on feeding with, remember the chinese rice ice cream cone looking thing I posted about one time?) She had a medical crisis while my mom was here, so I had to truck on down to Denver to help the family communicate her problems with the doctors at Children's Hospital. The reindeer was a thank you gift from them for me going to the hospital with them. So unnecessary, but so sweet.Nora and Aunt Erin

What a wonderful week we had!! It's a shame that right before Christmas Santa couldn't have mustered up a little more Christmas spirit! But the important thing is Nora had a great time. The Nutcracker was beautiful. I think we should make that one of our Christmas traditions! I'm REALLY looking forward to this year! Now....we just need to figure out a way to get Michael, Anaciano and Dani out there at the same time... hehehe
