We've had a busy past few weekends. Last weekend we went to Sunflower Farm on Saturday and then had Levi's 2nd birthday party at the pool on Sunday. Both were great fun!Grandmomma and Grandpapa went with us to Sunflower Farm. Nora had a great time showing them all the animals, swings, tractors and treehouses. We even discovered something we had never seen before. Tucked back behind one of the several barns is a little trampoline that Nora fell in love with. My favorite from the pictures of the farm is how she opens her mouth when she feeds the goats.
We had great fun at Levi's birthday party. Unfortunately, Nora almost gave Levi a concussion right after we got there. She ran to him to give him a hug and ended up tackling him on the concrete pool deck. Ouch! Poor guy was quite upset and a big bump popped up on his little head, but after a few minutes he seemed ok and had a great time at his party. It was crisp, partly cloudy and very windy on Sunday, but there were breaks in the clouds and wind, when the temp rose 10 degrees, so we ended up putting the kids in the pool. They played hard for a little while and had a blast.
On to this weekend... On Friday, I worked on Murphey's anniversary present (6 years, already!) This was not a small undertaking, by any means, and it could not have been accomplished without the help of Murphey's parents. My gift to him was renovating our back yard/deck/patio. We had an empty flower bed that I planted 3 rosebushes in, one for each of us (He loves rosebushes). We also had a defunct fountain that came with the house (that Murphey's father saw at a store retailing for something like $950.00!?!) I was going to try to fix it, but upon looking at it with Big Murf, we realized that even if we were able to patch all the cracks, it probably wouldn't last more than a season. So I filled it with flowers. Murphey's gift to me was some new patio furniture, which I LOVE! Anyway, Nora helped throughout the process of planting the bushes, and she was very good at watering them. I don't have any before pictures, but I'll take some after pictures soon and post them.
Yesterday we went to the Wool Mart in Estes Park. Nora got to see sheep, goats, alpaca, llamas, bunnies, spinning wheels, and she even got to weave with a real loom. She had so much fun petting all the animals and looking at all the stuff for sale. And of course, what event like that is complete without someone selling 2 ft. tall bags of kettle corn, which Nora and I proceeded to practically split. (We did share a little bit with Grandpoppa).
