I'm a proud OT Momma today

So being a pediatric occupational therapist and a parent has been quite interesting. My group of CTC girls can attest to all the "as a parent if I ever..." or "if my child ever..." conversations we used to have. All I can say now, is ahh... how one's perspective changes after bringing new life to this world. Yes, there are certain things that have made me cringe along the path of parenthood. Nora w-sits and, gasp, occasionally walks on her tiptoes! (W-sitting is when a person sits with their knees bent under them, ankles splayed out to the side and behind them, forming a W. And FYI, I believe it was my good friend Kelly who first said to me "toe walking is never a part of 'typical' development") So yes, Nora's floppiness and pulled elbow incident is definitely indicative of her low (but normal) muscle tone and ligament laxity. This is all no surprise, seeing that Murphey and I are both LOW tone.

But today, people, my toe-walking, w-sitting, floppy baby girl put her own shoes on. She concentrated on it for several minutes, giving me the chance to run and grab the camera. I was so bummed, as I was transferring the pictures I noticed I cut off her feet in the picture I got of her at the end! She did indeed have both shoes on, the right feet, we'll work on the velcro later. Actually, I think I'm going to start shoe-tying tomorrow. ;) Just kidding!
BTW, the hat was her own doing.

Yeah Nora! I'm a sensory and low tone kid all grown up and I learned to do it too :)

Is the shoe-tying AFTER building a ship in the bottle in the morning?

Congrats to the lovely Nora!

Too cool! I love her intense look of concentration through the whole thing.

BTW, I have no doubt that this girl will be completely unfazed by the paparazzi who'll stalk her once she's the world-famous Nora (one name only, thank you), model, movie-star & Nobel prize winner in both chemistry & economics. Why, because she'll have been trained by the most persistent paparazza of all, her mom.

Ha ha, Mike! However, I think 'mama'razzi is more appropriate in this case :)

I love it. She is so cute. I love all the pictures. I wouldn't worry too much about her habits. Jenny used to sit and sleep with her legs like the w-sit and she did just fine and didn't have any trouble. James also used to walk on his tip toes (in fact that is how he learned to walk ) and he seems to be ok. You never know.
