Blue Lake Hike

Nora and I joined our friends on a hike that kicked my a$$ today. Murphey was supposed to go as well, but Friday night he had a run in with the hanging light on the left.

The previous owners of this house had a table in this area. We have Nora's highchair there. As you can see, this light hangs from a metal pole, so when he stood up underneath it and bashed his head against it, there was no give, and he took a mighty big conker to the noggin. Actually, I take that back, there was a little give, because the light did not have that nice slant it has now.

straight light..................crooked light

That, and thanks to his extraordinary efforts, said light now WORKS! It hasn't worked in months, and tonight I turned on the kitchen lights and saw a soft glow coming from it! As soon as he's feeling up to it, we are going to rip that light out and put in a recessed light.

So while Murphey spent a much needed day with muscle relaxers, Nora and I ventured out on a hike to Blue Lake. We hiked 4.8 miles round trip between 10,500' - 11,355'. It was my first time hiking by the tree line, which is the elevation where trees are incapable of growing. Here's a picture of us when we got to the tree line.

Some other pictures from our hike up to the lake

There were a couple of nerve wracking footbridges on our way up. Nora was good and was still as I went across them.

Blue Lake is GORGEOUS! The weather today was perfect, not too cold, not too hot. Just perfect. Of course, when we got to the lake, all Nora wanted to do was play in it. I let her put her feet in. The lake was crystal clear.
