Looks like we're a GO!

Today was Nora's first day in five that she did not get Tylenol OR Motrin! Yay!!! She was a bit fussy, and her napping is off, but other than that her temperature fluctuated between 97.00 and 99.8. Phew! I hope this nastiness is behind us.

Yesterday we took her to Children's hospital to have some metabolic blood and urine testing done that I have majorly procrastinated on having done. It was ordered after her last 'episode' back in February, just to cover all of our bases. The doctors doubted they would find anything, but just wanted to make sure. I knew it was going to be a hassle, and logistically, it turned into an even bigger nightmare than I had imagined. We got lost on the way there all because the street Mapquest told us to turn on was CLOSED, (and Denver, like most other cities, is a mass of one way streets, dead ends, etc.). We had to drive separately, and I was in the lead. I turned onto a one-way street and was greeted by 4 lanes of cars (very light traffic, fortunately) coming at me. Murphey was just following me faithfully, and he had no idea we were on a one way street (it was a BIG one) and he told me later he almost pulled up beside me to see why I suddenly pulled over to the side and then proceeded to make a U-turn in the middle of the street!!! Yikes!! Then later on, when I was alone, I got trapped in a parking garage. But we got all the bugs worked out by the time it was time for Nora to get poked and prodded. I had a prior appointment scheduled for the same time she was getting her bloodwork done. (I know, convenient, eh?) Murphey insisted I not cancel my appointment and pay the 50% cancellation fee, that he could handle Nora, and that he did! He did so great with her. And she didn't even seem to miss me. Double Phew!! He was very complimentary to the staff at the lab and said that they were excellent.

Also yesterday, I was trying to come up with ways for Nora to have fun, but keep her body 'quiet' so she could build up strength and fight the fever away. So we made playdough! Yeah, she did well for the inaugural time, but once she tired of it (after 2 minutes) she dropped it piece by piece to the floor.

Do you notice how attentive the dogs are in the background? They thought the playdough was food. It had 1 cup of flour and 1/2 cup of salt in it. Gross. Jack just couldn't get it through his little head that this stuff was truly nasty. Later on he got to some of it, before I had picked it up. He spat it out, and then went at it again, this time consuming it. Yuk.

We leave early tomorrow to visit all our friends out east, will try to catch you all up now and then throughout our trip. Happy 4th of July!!!
