Kentucky!

Last weekend Murphey, Murf, Nora and I traveled to Kentucky for the Keenon-McCloy Family reunion. This was my first trip to where Murf was raised, and my first McCloy family function, so I got to meet lots of relatives. It was great to finally meet some special people (Helen!) in person, and spend time with the family. Nora was an angel on the trip and even slept in her own hotel bed! I barricaded her in with pillows stuffed under the fitted sheet of the bed and she did fairly well. Other than the one morning we woke up to find her sleeping on the floor between the two beds (gag! hotel floor...).

Check out those fork skills. She's come so far!

After dinner, the family gathered back at the hotel for a excellent presentation on the history of the McCloy family, starting from one lonely McCloy's venture to the United States of America from Ireland in the mid 1800's.Stuart, Mary Fred, Stella, Mary Whayne

Nora played with Ray, JP and Woodson, and she also occupied herself nicely by looking at books while Wilson gave the presentation.
Ray was very entertaining to the kids
The next day we said our goodbyes and then headed off to Elizabethtown for a visit. As Nora was saying goodbye to Mary Fred, she began patting Mary Fred's cheek, then she leaned in and licked it, as if to taste it. I was horrified (and disgusted!), and then she patted her cheek again. I couldn't believe it. Mary Fred handled it better than I would have, I hate being licked. Stuart, Mary Fred, Helen, and Murf

We stopped by the cemetary where Helen and Murphey McCloy, Sr (Murf's parents) are buried.
Outside the Lexington Airport. Kentucky is a beautiful state. I love all of the miles and miles of rolling hills and black wooden fences. I wish I had gotten a picture of it, but if there is a grove (2-200) of trees in the middle of a huge open field, they even fence off the trees. It was neat being in horse country.

And finally, at the airport, being a good little girl. Our trip out was laden with layovers (2 hr delay leaving Denver, 3 hr delay leaving Atlanta), so thankfully our trip home was quick with minimal delays.

It looks and sounds as though you all had a wonderful time! I can't get over how grown up our sweet baby girl is! Did you get any pictures of your birthday yesterday?

I had to laugh at the part where Nora licked someones face. Nicole does that quite often, when she is pretending to be a dog. But she only does it to me and Jon. Looks like you had a nice family reunion
