Oh, and an update on the 'reading' in bed issue. I came up with the idea to go through her regular bedtime routine, including reading her a story, then turn on her lamp, put her in bed and let her look at books for 15 minutes. We did it for the first time last night and she did great! The timer had gone off (but was so quiet nobody heard it) and she had dropped the books out of her bed and rolled over to go to sleep! Day two didn't go quite as smoothly, but it did still work. Tonight Murphey and I were in the kitchen and we heard thump, thump, thump, which was her getting out of bed and running over to the stairs. She hollered down "I don't remember the words!" Murphey told her to just make some up and she turned around and ran back into her bedroom.
Last week Murphey bought her this moon and this planetarium for her room. She has a cardboard roll that reinforced the box our fax machine came in, which she has covered with Dora stickers and calls her "spotting scope." She now sleeps with her spotting scope and uses it to look at the stars on her ceiling.
Now if I could just get her to stop crawling into bed with me at 4:00 in the morning... (I say me, because my side of the bed is closest to the door, so I'm the first line of defense, apparently. I think Murphey and I need to switch sides...)

How could you ever be upset by having such a little cutie cuddle up next to you at 4am? Sounds like you should just go to bed earlier so that you'll be ready to get up & go buy star stickers whenever she wants them! With that in mind, switching sides of the bed with Murphey should be considered a gift to him. After all, it was his birthday & he was the one who gave Nora to you in the first place! ;) Happy Birthday, Murphey!

Mike, it sounds like it may be time for Nora to come for a visit and spend some quality time with her 'great' Uncle Mike! I'd say she's old enough for a sleepover! Maybe you could help her get HIGH again (your words, not mine!). (for those of you who don't know, Mike asked her if she wanted to get high again when he was lifting her up to reach the top of the front door.) :)
so it's about 2.5 years old I guess when the puppy dog eyes "please" look develops i guess :)
Kevin and I watched the conversation video several times. It made us laugh so hard!! She is sooo funny!!! I just love listening to her talk and her facial expressions are just priceless!! :)
I love the facial expressions too! After watching these videos, Maddie has started putting things down on the floor to jump over. Luckily she started with a very safe choice of a pillow! And the end of the dancing/ABC's video almost looked like interpretive dancing again.
