Heat Wave

Well, I think we broke 40 on the thermometer today. It was still mid-40's when Nora woke up from her nap, so I put her coat on (was so warm out I almost took her out without it!) and we headed to the park. A little, nagging, voice inside my head told me to bring my camera and take some pictures to update the blog, OR ELSE! (The voice sounded remarkably like you, Claudia) :)
Today is Charlotte and Murf's 40th Anniversary!! Unfortunately, they had to celebrate from afar, over skype, as Murf is back in Virginia temporarily. We made Charlotte a special dinner and Will and his mom Susan were able to join us! Nora is in the throes of the terrible 2's and made sure everyone was aware of that. She did snap out of it when we sat down for dinner though (Phew, because meal times have NOT been fun lately).
I lit candles and put them on the table, and one of Nora's favorite activities is blowing out candles. Absolutely loves it. So we kept telling her that after dinner she could blow them out. This picture looks worse than it is, Murphey was right there, and the candle wasn't as close to her face as it looks in the picture.
I want to send a huge congratulations out to my Dad, who was selected to be a recipient of Wisconsin's ACLU Civil Libertarian of the Year Award, for the work he has done to protect/preserve immigrant's rights in Green Bay (including speaking out against an incredibly racist, vocal, city councilman). Unfortunately he is going to be in Tucson with us, visiting my grandmother when they are having the awards ceremony.

Some other highlights from the past couple weeks that I want to share:
  • We took a family trip to the grocery store the other evening. There was a full moon and Nora was fascinated with it. During the day whenever she spots the moon she points it out to me. We looked at it as we walked through the parking lot and she was talking about it. She, very excitedly said said "Be careful, moon up there, moon fall down." I then had to explain to her that the moon wouldn't fall down out of the sky.
  • Murphey was watching Nora the other day and she spilled her milk and then said "Uh-oh, It's ok, I still love you." I got home and Murphey wanted to know why our daughter was repeating that, and if that's something I said to her, because it sounds awful!! I had to think about it and then I remembered it's from the book "Happy Birthday Moon." The teddy bear says it to the moon when he thinks the moon has lost his birthday present. I agree, it's not something I hope she goes around repeating, but it was kinda funny.
  • Nora now has 3 stickers on her potty chair because she has pooped on it once and peed twice! I felt so bad, this afternoon, she didn't fall right asleep for her nap so I checked on her and she was poopy. As I was changing her diaper, she asked to sit on the potty chair. Assuming it was a stall tactic, I said "No, you already went poop, you can sit on it later." Murphey called me 30-40 minutes later to tell me that she was still awake and fussing, so he went to check on her and she was poopy again! She really had to go and was telling me, and I told her no! :( That child amazes me with the amount she can poop!

Mia, you've become an amazing photographer! I love the outdoor pictures....especially the profile and the one on the swing. If you were to give the picture of Charlotte and Nora a title, I think it should be "Perfect Love." That's a truly beautiful picture of a Grandmomma and her granddaughter! What a great picture of Will and Susan! Will, it's nice to see you again.... We hope you'll be at Nora's birthday party. Mia, the candle picture is priceless! All I can say is, "Keep 'em coming!"

I agree with you mom...I wish I had a fraction of your photography skills! And yes, the candle picture is amazing! I can't imagine Nora acting like a terrible 2, not possible! And I'm with you about the crazy amounts of poop...how can such little beings produce so much waste? Good luck with potty training. You know, as always, I'll be using you as a resource in a few months :)

Job well done Mia!!!! We just can't seem to get enough of that precious little one. Thanks for not making me wait another week. :)

Amen to that, Claudia! Hey, Mia! Want to go for a "threefer?" (Posting three days in a row, that is!) I think I can speak for all of us--your efforts provide a slice of heaven to the "Ga-ga Norahood!" (As I'm latching on my bracelet before I go to work. Thank you, again, Charlotte, for the beautiful bracelet!)
